Poem: Grey Life

I have everything and nothing.
A facade of a good life, but
full of murky shadows waiting to
pounce on every single chance i have
of happiness.

But is it true happiness?
is it a social dilemna?
or its simply loneliness in disguise?
A wild thought begetts doubt and
doubt begetts ingratitude, thus,
a lone-wolf is born.

I still feel whole and empty,
full of life and yet without meaning.
Neither a glass half full nor half empty,
rather without water,
But still makes a beautiful sound
when one sticks and slides.
So maybe there is hope after all,
but the greyness still resides inside me.

Inside an Optimist’s mind

Optimism is overrated some would say, but to grasp on the idea of ‘The glass half full…’ideology is actually a great way to overcome obstacles in one’s life.

Let’s take for example, a person who just lost a job. Instead of that person to moarn over the loss of his/her job, he/she has a mind full of gratitude for the lessons learnt from the past job and has hope, that all the lessons learnt would be of great use in finding the next job, be it sooner or later. That hope gives birth to optimism, an imaginary land, where the grass is always greener on the other side.

To convince an optimist otherwise, rather seems nearly impossible for their way of thinking is totally different
from realists and/or pessimists, however, they are fully aware that not all is roses and gold in life. They choose to approach life, in hopes that nothing is permanent in life, be it good or bad, and that after a storm comes calm.

Let’s take another example, which is slightly similar to the first mentioned above. Say, a person has been living in debt,
he or she has been in and out jobs and has been suffering from rejection after rejection from different companies, maybe family
and other relations too. Seems too much? well, believe it or not, many out there go through something very similar quite often, thus the reason for choosing this example. Now, let’s get back to the example. Inside an optimist’s mind, light is always perceived at the end of the tunnel, amidst the crisis.

You always hear them saying something along the lines such as “I know someday, things will get better” or “Tomorrow is another day”, which seems a bit too hopeful considering the amount of difficulty and pain they would be experiencing, however, that’s how an optimist gets his/her strength despite the difficulty.

An optimist is always up for the challenge and is always eager to try different approaches in life as long as it gets them to where they want to be. In other words, they simply refuse to give up nomatter how the challenge may seem to be. Their eyes shimmer with hope, with endurance and at times they may go over the top and try to spread optimism to the rest of the world. One can try to imagine how beautiful their hearts are, but their way of thinking, their minds are way too powerful to be overshadowed by ‘What ifs’, rather with ‘One day i will…’ kind of thoughts.

Some would say that optimism is just an easy way to hide from the harshness of reality and that realists would accept whatever life brings to the table, but an optimist however, would do the same with the hope of things getting better sooner or later. For one to have the ability to think this way, it would help that person greatly with a reduced risk of heart problems because of stress and also less overthinking.

“Live life to the fullest, one day at a time”, is an optimist’s motto, which sounds cool by the way and also a mantra which has helped a lot of people to live their lives with great contentment and gratitude.

“Optimism – the doctrine or belief that everything is beautiful, including what is ugly.”

– Ambrose Pierce

Poem: Sunset

Hearing her speak,
your heart melts.
The sound of her voice is like a sweet serenade
and the feel of her touch is like two heartbeats in sync,
pure magic.

When love is in the equation,
then you would understand.
Her gaze, her scent, her laugh
and her spark it’s just magical.
What more could you ask for?

Watching the sunset with her as the day unfolds.
Watching as the time of tomorrow is being written
in black and white,
I could wish for nothing more.

I want her today and tomorrow and the next.
Watching the day end with zest,
an unknown feeling just because i have her
by my side.
Reminiscing the days we were One and still is,
the days you so full of light, of love, of beauty,
just can’t get enough of you.

Poem: Cuteness

The sweet taste of love,
the doves are my witness.
Warm and gentle your arms around me,
night kisses.
Am i the luckiest guy in the world,
i am overwhelmed by your kindess.

You and me in the never ending moment
an undying commitment.
We are two souls lost in each other’s eyes,
and i don’t think i will ever be ready to find
my way,
lovestruck by your cuteness

Poem: Keep Moving

Keep Moving

Tidal waves gushed away my broken dreams
and new thoughts began cooking inside my mind.
A step forward and 2 steps back,
thats how i thought life is.
A new perspective of a better tomorrow,
am i too broken to dream?

“Keep moving!”, a faded voice
inside my mind kept pushing and pushing,
towards the light at the end of the tunnel.
Havent i pushed enough?
havent i put my all?
Havent i exhausted my wishes,
my thinking?
“Keep moving!”it uttered again,
and once more.

Now, two steps forward and a step back,
a new perspective of a rainbow after a storm.
But isn’t if i am at the far bottom i have every
reason to get up, to keep Moving?
Dust on my shoes, a long journey ahead
and as birds sing along the road,
and the trees providing shelter and rest when
thoughts of returning start to creep in,
that voice again utters,”Keep moving”.

I guess its not over yet for me

Poem: MoonLight

Moon light

Your eyes shine on every full moon
Even in the coldest nights, your smile brings warmth.

Your laugh puts my mind at ease.
The moonlight spreads through the horizon,
and your beauty captures every essence of it.
Your wildest self comes out every night to play,
i can’t get enough of it.

You are as gorgeous as a carnation,
but with a heart full of fire…

Poem: Your Warmth

never in a million years

had i thought that my arms would be around your waist

and your head on my chest, you hearing my heart-beat and I,

feeling your warmth and each second turning into past…

Poem: Dying Love

are those tears of joy, love?
or you simply cry of sadness
or pain?
Does he not know how much
you can give or does he not know
that you are the key to his happiness?

I guess he will never know, love.
Go where you are needed,
the world is yet to pay its debt for your
existence,
for you are a rare gem,
irreplaceable.

Poem: Gratitude

Thankful for the sun that brings warmth to the hearts of the living.
Thankful for the moon that keeps the secrets that we share with her in times of need.
Thankful for the wind that blows off steam when our minds are filled with negative thoughts,

for the love we share,
for the tears that pour down when we hurt,
for the lessons we learn when we make mistakes,
for yesterday, today and tomorrow
And for the air we breathe.

The Effects of Overthinking and the best ways to deal with it

We can all agree that most of us have been a victim of overthinking in our lives, and some are still struggling with this problem. Overthinking poisons the mind. The questions of ‘Why? Or ‘How’, we ask ourselves repeatedly and we seem to get no answers we want and that can be a problem.

This problem usually affects people of young age since most of them are in the ‘Identity Crisis stage. Overthinking is usually associated with depression, stress, and sometimes post-traumatic stress disease (PTSD), so it’s not unusual to find that people who are experiencing some of these issues tend to overthink. To some extent, the lack of love in our households also results in this, the need to be loved to the extent of thinking you can’t find love and when you do find it, you easily push away people thinking it’s too good to be true. It’s wrong to judge people who tend to overthink, rather, we must help them see the world and the good in it and that they themselves deserve the goodness in this world.

It’s not bad to think or to be analytical, but when you start to think too much, then that’s a problem. What are usually the signs that show someone is an overthinker?

5 signs you are an overthinker:

1. Asking yourself a lot of ‘Why? Or ‘What if…?’ questions most of the time.

2. Reminiscing a relationship that ended 2/3 years ago, repeatedly when instead you should have moved on by now.

3. Spending most of the time, thinking of why you are not just good enough for anything or to do anything.

4. Relieving your past mistakes

5. Trying to think of the hidden meaning of the words people always say to you or what they have done to you.

…and the list goes on

Not only is it a bad thing to overthink, but there are also health problems associated with it which include brain and heart problems, only to mention a few. Constant worrying affects the brain with a lot of negativity. You start to perceive the world with a lot of pessimism and as for the heart, chest pains and tachycardia are some of the problems that affect the heart. It’s no rocket science to know that this is not an easy thing to overcome.

Reading a lot of articles or books on how best to overcome overthinking is a good start. Take one step at a time, know that the world doesn’t change overnight. Do you want to stop overthinking? then work on it, act on it because at the end of the day, if not you, then who will help you?

Have an open mind and try to see the world from outside the box you are used to hiding yourself in. There’s more to life than what you see, give the world a chance and it will give you a chance as well. One heartbeat at a time, as you help yourself with the process. You are not alone, no one is actually and we are in this together. It’s good to talk to someone and let it out than to burden yourself with thoughts of WHY or trying to make sense of HOW it happened to you and not anyone else.

If you can’t talk to anyone, then write it down, paint it and scream to the skies and the skies will surely hear you. A lot of us often think, we are the only ones experiencing these problems, but that’s not the truth. A lot of people out there are experiencing the same. Don’t dwell too much on your past because there are so many things that life or the future has to offer if you give it a chance.

Be grateful for the small things and from there you will notice that you aren’t missing a lot at all. Sometimes things happen the way they happen for so many reasons and not many of those times we will know the reason, but the most important thing is to accept reality, to accept the way things, they are and rather ask yourself what you are going to do about it. It starts to make sense with time if you take a step back and relax and work on yourself. It’s not meant to be easy but give it a try.

If many people can do it, then why can’t you? The beauty of life is that most of the things that happen to us will always be a mystery. Stop overthinking and as it also affects the people around you. Why spend half of the day relieving past events when you can live in the moment and focus on the future? Food for thought.

“Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action has arrived, stop thinking and go in.”

– Napoleon Bonaparte
